Nisha makes her way as Matron’s assistant, her closest companions the mysterious cats that trail her shadow. Only when she begins a forbidden flirtation with the city’s handsome young courier does she let herself imagine a life outside the walls. Until one by one, girls around her start to die.

Before she becomes the next victim, Nisha decides to uncover the secrets that surround the girls’ deaths. But by getting involved, Nisha jeopardizes not only her own future in the City of a Thousand Dolls—but her own life.

*Why I want to read this:  A murder mystery set in a mysterious place called the City of a Thousand Dolls.  Reading about girls who get put to work in interesting careers appeals to me. - Jessica

Waiting on Wednesday (121): Prophecy (The Dragon King Chronicles) by Ellen Oh

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Prophecy (The Dragon King Chronicles)

Author: Ellen Oh
Publisher: HarperTeen
Publish Date: January 2, 2013

Publisher Description
The greatest warrior in all of the Seven Kingdoms... is a girl with yellow eyes.

Kira’s the only female in the king’s army, and the prince’s bodyguard. She’s a demon slayer and an outcast, hated by nearly everyone in her home city of Hansong. And, she’s their only hope...

Murdered kings and discovered traitors point to a demon invasion, sending Kira on the run with the young prince. He may be the savior predicted in the Dragon King Prophecy, but the missing treasure of myth may be the true key. With only the guidance of the cryptic prophecy, Kira must battle demon soldiers, evil shaman, and the Demon Lord himself to find what was once lost and raise a prince into a king.

Intrigue and mystery, ancient lore and action-packed fantasy come together in this heart-stopping first book in a trilogy.

Why Jessica wants to read this: A girl in a stereotypical male role will get me every time.  Then add in some demon slaying and I think "I need to get my hands on it!"

In My Mailbox (79)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme run by The Story Siren which explores the books that have been delivered to our mailbox. Let us know what looks good to you and leave us a link so we can check out what you got over the week.

We haven't received anything for review this week, which is good because our current list is crazy long.  What we did get are two books that were won from HarperTeen:

  Pandemonium (Delirium)by Lauren Oliver

  Bewitchingby Alex Flinn

What would you read first?
Leave us a link to your IMM, we'd love to drool over your reads!

*UPDATE: Due to the recent information becoming available about plagiarism by The Story Siren, we will no longer be participating in any of The Story Siren's meme's including IMM and The Debut Author Challenge.  While we would still love to visit everyone's blog on the linky list - we will not be a visitor on her site any longer.  We shall try our best to visit the weekly posts of others that we normally visit on Sundays and will continue to visit those that leave us a link to their weekly post as well. - Jessica

Waiting on Wednesday (89): Darkness Before Dawn by J.A. London

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Darkness Before Dawn by J.A. London

Publisher: HarperTeen
Publish Date: May 29, 2012

Publisher's Description
This electrifying new trilogy blends the best of paranormal and dystopian storytelling in a world where the war is over. And the vampires won.

Humans huddle in their walled cities, supplying blood in exchange for safety. But not even that is guaranteed. Dawn has lost her entire family and now reluctantly serves as the delegate to Lord Valentine, the most powerful vampire for miles. It isn’t until she meets Victor, Valentine’s son, that she realizes not all vampires are monsters....

Darkness Before Dawn is a fresh new story with captivating characters, unexpected plot twists, a fascinating setting, and a compelling voice. Written under the name J. A. London by a talented mother-son team, the trilogy is perfect for fans of True Blood and the House of Night and Morganville Vampires series.

Why are we waiting on this one?
Vampires have won?  Heck yeah.  I mean really, what more needs to be said after knowing that.  Seriously. - Jessica
