Book Blogger Hop 6/24-6/27 and Feature & Follow Friday

Book Blogger Hop
We are participating in the Book Blogger Hop this week! If you want to participate too head over to Crazy for Books and fill out the linky.

“When did you realize reading was your passion and a truly important part of your life?”
I've been a reader for a really long time, but I think I realized I couldn't get enough of the written word when I was a pre-teen. Back then I was reading a lot of Sweet Valley High books, Choose Your Own Adventures, and then I remember loving the movie and the book The Secret Garden. (Did all of that just date me? Eh, I'm ok with that!) - Jessica

Feature & Follow Friday
This weeks featured blogger at Parajunkee's View is Mickey @ I'm a Book Shark

Welcome to the world of Book Sharks!

Mickey is the blogger behind I'm A Book Shark. She really wishes there was a better explanation for why she's a book shark. A new twitter name was needed, and it had to be about her favorite hobby: reading! For whatever reason, sharks also came to mind and a book shark was born.

Mickey has been reading for as long as she can remember. It's her favorite pastime, her go-to activity, her escape from any bad reality. Reading is so awesome that her last name is even Reed! (Spelled wrong for irony of course.) And her first name is actually Michelle, so her name is quite like Richelle Mead. It never gets old!

Her goal this year is 200 books, and she's already 59% there. That's mostly because she reads almost every genre in any age range. She enjoys a good romance, perhaps a comical mystery, or a YA novel with angels and vampires. And audio books are a staple in her life! Mickey has a job where she can listen to books at work, and that makes up a big amount of her reading.

Besides reading, Mickey is a natural reddish-headed mid-twenties entertainment-of-all-kinds lover, girlfriend of boyfriend, mother of reptiles (and a cat), and addict of dessert. Anything chocolate is a welcomed gift in her life. Oh yeah, and she likes to blog. :o)

And this week's question for Follow Friday is:
Q. In light of the Summer Solstice. Also known as Midsummer...let's talk about fairies. What is your favorite fairy tale or story that revolves around the fae?

Hmmm...well this might be a stretch to some people, but as right now I am reading Dead Reckoning, I'm going with the Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire Mystery Series.  Yeah, so it has vampires in it.  It also has were creatures in it and fairies....so I'm going with it.  I love my Sookie!

Book Blogger Hop 6/17-6/20 & Follow Friday

Book Blogger Hop
It's been awhile since we've participated in this, but it's always fun.  If you want to participate too head over to Crazy for Books and fill out the linky.

“How many books are currently in your To-Be-Read (TBR) Pile?”
Hmmm....I've got 279 on GoodReads and another 100 or so sitting on a book shelf here.  I'm going to go with 400.  That's doable....eventually.

Q. Genre Wars! What's your favorite genre and which book in that genre made it your favorite?
I think Dystopian is currently my favorite and The Hunger Games set me off in that direction.  Love it so very much and I do like adult dystopian book as well.

Book Blogger Hop: August 27-30, 2010

The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly party hosted by Crazy For Books. It is a great way to discover blogs that are new to you and to show off your own blog! I really appreciate Crazy For Books for hosting this event.

Your blog should have content related to books, including, but not limited to book reviews.

This week's question comes from: Books Are A Girl's Best Friend

Do you use a rating system for your reviews and if so, what is it and why?
Yes, we do.  It's on the side of every page of our blog and it's based on how much we would want others to read this book as well.  It ranges from reading it to you so you will read it to ripping it out of your hands if we see you with it.  Why do we used a rating system?  So those that don't have time to read our whole review can get a general idea just from reading the rating on it.  It's tough not to use 3.5, 4.5 sometimes, but we stick to it.

Book Blogger Hop: August 6-9, 2010

The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly party hosted by Crazy For Books. It is a great way to discover blogs that are new to you and to show off your own blog! I really appreciate Crazy For Books for hosting this event.

This week's question: Do you listen to music when you read? If so, what are your favorite reading tunes?

Jessica's Answer: I don't often listen to music when reading mostly because I'm always so timed crunched that it's an extra step to get music set up.  I have a hard time concentrating to two things with words (reading and lyrics), so when I do listen to something it's usually classical music.

Book Blogger Hop (4): July 2 - 5

The Book Blogger Hop is a weekly party hosted by Crazy For Books. It is a great way to discover blogs that are new to you and to show off your own blog! I really appreciate Crazy For Books for hosting this event. Our site is a newer book review site, but with help and guidance from other book bloggers, we've quickly begun to be requested by authors and publishers to review their books and have dedicated followers with whom we get to chat endlessly with about books(which is our favorite part)!

"I'm Jessica, who does most of the upkeep on the blog. Wally and Kole are also reviewers on the site. We all read a lot and I was posting reviews in a number of places already, so I figured that having one centrally located place for them made sense. At the time, I don't think I knew what I was getting into, there is a lot of work involved in maintaining a blog, but most of it is enjoyable. (Some days I want to rip my hair out, it's true.) I love talking books and the blog is a great way to do that. Getting feedback from others that love books as well makes it all very worth the time
put into the blog."
