“When did you realize reading was your passion and a truly important part of your life?”
I've been a reader for a really long time, but I think I realized I couldn't get enough of the written word when I was a pre-teen. Back then I was reading a lot of Sweet Valley High books, Choose Your Own Adventures, and then I remember loving the movie and the book The Secret Garden. (Did all of that just date me? Eh, I'm ok with that!) - Jessica Feature & Follow Friday
This weeks featured blogger at Parajunkee's View is Mickey @ I'm a Book Shark
Welcome to the world of Book Sharks!
Mickey is the blogger behind I'm A Book Shark. She really wishes there was a better explanation for why she's a book shark. A new twitter name was needed, and it had to be about her favorite hobby: reading! For whatever reason, sharks also came to mind and a book shark was born.
Mickey has been reading for as long as she can remember. It's her favorite pastime, her go-to activity, her escape from any bad reality. Reading is so awesome that her last name is even Reed! (Spelled wrong for irony of course.) And her first name is actually Michelle, so her name is quite like Richelle Mead. It never gets old!
Her goal this year is 200 books, and she's already 59% there. That's mostly because she reads almost every genre in any age range. She enjoys a good romance, perhaps a comical mystery, or a YA novel with angels and vampires. And audio books are a staple in her life! Mickey has a job where she can listen to books at work, and that makes up a big amount of her reading.
Besides reading, Mickey is a natural reddish-headed mid-twenties entertainment-of-all-kinds lover, girlfriend of boyfriend, mother of reptiles (and a cat), and addict of dessert. Anything chocolate is a welcomed gift in her life. Oh yeah, and she likes to blog. :o)
And this week's question for Follow Friday is:
Q. In light of the Summer Solstice. Also known as Midsummer...let's talk about fairies. What is your favorite fairy tale or story that revolves around the fae?
Hmmm...well this might be a stretch to some people, but as right now I am reading Dead Reckoning, I'm going with the Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire Mystery Series. Yeah, so it has vampires in it. It also has were creatures in it and fairies....so I'm going with it. I love my Sookie!

ReplyDeleteI love Sookie too!
Have a great weekend.
Ha! Too cute... I like Sookie from the books, I'm not a HUGE fan of TV Sookie- I can never forget she's the X-men chick.

Thanks for hopping by my blog. I love the amount of series that were available to for us as kids, like the ones you mentioned. They definitely kept me reading.
ReplyDeleteI think I need to get into the Sookie Series. I have book one on my shelf, just never seem to get to it. LOL :)

Oh man, I do love Sookie so much- but, you know, the tv series is a lot more attractive to me than the books for a few pretty obvious reasons hehe
ReplyDeleteWhen did I first realize I loved reading? I wish I could prove a pre-natal predilection towards books but my memories don’t stretch back quite that far.
ReplyDeleteThe earliest memories I can recall involved books. First having them read to me then reading them on my own the minute I had the ability.
Books have been a major part of my life ever since. My passion for the written word knowing no bounds, I started writing books on top of reading them about ten years ago.

I really need to get caught up on the Sookie series! I really enjoyed the ones that I read. :) Thanks for stopping by! I'm already following you!
ReplyDeleteHello! Old follower here. Thanks for the visit. I still haven't read the Sookie Stackhouse series. I'm taking a vampire novel break. I burned myself out after several years (too much Anne Rice and Laurell K. Hamilton) and needed something different. I'll probably start reading them again next year, though. I hope you enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI also remember the Choose Your own Adventure books. They were great fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and following. I'm following you back.
Have a great weekend.

Hopping through. I adored the Sweet Valley High books in junior high and some in high school. They're 80/90s classics.
